Governance; Lagos Island East Organize Stakeholders’ Meeting On 2019 Budget

Commissions Rehabilitated Road, Council Chamber

– Hosts One-Day Governor

Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area on Wednesday January 23, held a Stakeholders’ Meeting to allow actors in the Local Council deliberate on her policy formation, revenue generation and expenditure for the 2019 fiscal year.

The host Chairman, Comrade Kamal Salau-Bashua in his speech said the aim was “to discuss all spheres of life of our dear community and build on the current monumental development of our municipality”.

“Last year, this administration worked assiduously to ensure that we bring dividends of democracy to our people ranging from infrastructure, education, social security for the aged, health, empowerment and most importantly, security of lives and property”.

“I’m optimistic that our performance in 2019 will supersede what we did last year where we had a 61.9% performance from our revenue projection premising our revenue collection on probity, transparency and proper accountability”.

The Council Manager, Mrs. Hamdalat Giwa in her welcome address acknowledged that Lagos Island East LCDA is a partnership government, assuring that stakeholders’ participation and contribution at the forum will go a long way in the preparation of the 2019 appropriation to enable government focus on the key challenges of the people.

Party leaders, community heads, religious leaders, market women, artisans and community development associations at the occasion had earlier witnessed the commissioning of the upgraded Council Chamber to enhance legislative duties and the newly rehabilitated Odunlami Lane in the Council Area.

The commissioning was performed by the winer of the Lagos State 2018 Spelling Bee Competition and the reigning ‘One-Day Governor’, Miss Gloria Ajala of the Lafiaji Senior Secondary School, Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Lagos who was accompanied by her mother, her teacher and members of her cabinet.
